Players Jammers Racers

Players is the first book in our “Teen Reading Trilogy.”  A comprehensive Teacher’s Guide provides the framework for teaching classic literary concepts with  contemporary novels.  These “easy reading” novellas attract teens of all reading levels due to the relevant and believable characters and story lines.  If you’re looking for a series that pulls even non-readers into the magic of reading, look no more.

Players, Jammers and Racers are specifically designed to engage teens in reading.  Unlike YA books designed to appeal to particular audiences or reading aptitudes, these novellas have universal appeal for teens regardless of race, gender, intellectual interests or reading ability.  The reading level of the book actually becomes a neutral element of the process because the content is dynamic and relevant to teens.  Our experience in the classroom has shown that all students enjoy reading this book.

Players, Jammers and Racers are books that students love to read and that teachers love to teach!  Each book is written and packaged to appeal to today’s youth.  Teachers are thrilled to find books that their students don’t want to put down.  The fact that they can actually teach English and literature is an added bonus. Each of the books has been written and tested with students in real classrooms.

How are teachers able to teach classic literary concepts with these contemporary novels?

What teachers are saying about Players, Jammers and Racers.

The Physical Package

Beginning in middle school, reading often becomes a chore to be avoided.  Many students employ a bag of tricks to avoid the task altogether.  These avoidance tactics became especially apparent on trips to the library.  Students don’t choose books based on their interests.  They chose the shortest book. They chose the books with the lowest reading level.  They chose the shortest books, with the lowest reading level and the highest number of AR points.  They check out books with no intention of reading them.

The books were designed with these thoughts in mind.  First, each book is small.  Players is just 100 pages including the discussion questions and first chapter of Jammers.  Secondly, the cover design is simple and familiar, yet memorable.  The interior has lots of white space and is easy on the eyes.  The look and feel of the books gives the impression that reading them won’t be a big deal.

We have taken our cue to a certain degree from the world that our newest generation of students live in.  The immediacy, graphic overload and speed of the electronic world have significantly impacted students’ ability to become interested in books.  There are several real and perceived barriers involved in the process of getting teens to read.  The Easy Easy Teen Reading Trilogy removes these barriers.

The Teacher's Guides

An essential component for the educational market, each of the Teacher’s Guides simplifies daily planning and maximizes the teaching potential of the books.  Elements include an overview, chapter summary, end of course test, literary concepts overview, literary terms, and activities for gifted classes.  The guides are provided in a Word format to allow teachers the flexibility to customize the materials for each of their classes.
